he first century a.D. England, Albion, is occupied by the Romans, Londonium their largest settlement. Only in Wales, Scottland and Ireland the Celtic communities have survived. They are pressed by the Roman's claims to dominate them aswell as the Romans themselves by the new Christian beliefs that have found some followers allready in England of those days.
I
n a dramatic finale the worldview of the Romans is victorious and the Celtic communities are destroyed. Only Eilans son survives. Gawen becomes the first Merlin. Another one will appear centuries later out of the mists of Avalon at the court of king Arthur and will reconcile the eagle of Rome with the dragon of Albion and the fish of Christianity.
